Bamboo Market Health Foods

The Bamboo Market opened in 1991 in a 300 sq. foot space located in downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  The owners, Anne Halloran and Julie Freed had worked together at the Rocky Mountain Wellness Spa, Anne as the Staff Nutritionist and Julie as a Wellness Counselor. In 1994, Julie decided to move to Boulder and Anne became the sole owner of the store. That year Anne was able to increase the size of the store to 800 square feet, and then in 1997 to 1500 square feet. In 2005, Anne purchased a 3000 square foot commercial space located at the Waterside Village along the Yampa River. The new space allowed for further expansion and is fortunate to have a beautiful location, lots of natural light and spectacular views of Howelsen Hill.

Our goal at the Bamboo Market and Deli is to provide exceptional, friendly service, organic produce and healthy food items. We also sell many locally produced items including honey, elk and bison meat, grass fed beef, eggs, soaps, bath items and herbal remedies.

The deli is the currently the only place in Routt County that provides prepared organic meals, organic juices, smoothies, coffee drinks and baked goods. The people who work at the Bamboo Market and Deli make it what it is ‘a vibrant, sometimes hectic and crazy, rewarding and fun place to work.’

Owner
Anne Halloran -- Anne grew up in Southern California and started shopping in health food stores as a teenager. She graduated from San Diego State University in 1982, then went on to receive her Master's Degree in Clinical Nutrition
from the University of Humanist Studies in Del Mar California. She has owned and operated the Bamboo Market since 1991 and is always happy to share her knowledge with others, so feel free to come to her with your questions and concerns.
Supplement Advisor
Becky Nelson -- Becky's family owned "the oldest health food store in Nebraska" and grew up working in the store and eventually running the store. When Becky and her husband, Tom, moved in Steamboat in 2001 she naturally gravitated to the Bamboo Market and has been here ever since. Becky has been a vegetarian for over twenty years and she is a wealth of information in the health food field. When she's not at the store she's sneaking trips back to Kansas to visit her daughter and grandkids.
On-Staff Herbalist/Herb Buyer
Jessica Striker -- Jessica graduated from Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies in Boulder in 2001 as a certified Herbalist with special interest in propagation of endangered medicinal plants. She also holds certifications in organic growing, greenhouse management and permaculture design. When Jessica doesn't have her hands in the dirt you will find her leading herbwalks and teaching medicine making workshops in the Steamboat Springs community.
